A name or place entered into a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Boone County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Boone County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record data. It explains how to reach the Boone County Sheriff, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety and Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not turned into a third-party criminal file or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools embedded on some pages. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. We do not control those practices. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Boone County offices, Iowa court systems, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's policy controls its collection and use of information. Review those terms before sharing personal data.
